Out with the old favorites, in with the new
I just finished spicing up my website after discovering I could post images about 25% bigger than my webhost had told me I could. So, while I was at it, I figured it was about time I updated my wedding images with more recent work. It's tough to replace old favorites because it's easy for a photographer to become oddly attached to his pictures. I hope that clients from my early wedding years are not hurt by being replaced. I'm still crazy about y'all and the photos we made together but it's time to move on.

Toot, toot!
Thank goodness for yoga or I wouldn't be able to pat myself on the back like this. Humbly, I submit for my phans (all 3 of them, not including my mom), 4 of my images that recently placed in the Wedding Photojournalists Association's 2006 winter contest.
All the credit really goes to my fantastic clients, I'm merely the vessel broadcasting their romantic/beautiful/ridiculous moments to the world.

Kate + Mark
Well, my 1st wedding of the 2007 season is ready to ship to the handsome couple, Kate + Mark. Two weeks ago, Des Moines was still in the throes of winter but, as always, love-and walking really fast- conquers all. The ceremony was at the beautiful (but deceptively dark) St. Ambrose Catholic Church downtown. The reception took place at the Temple for the Performing Arts, an architectural gem.
The highlight of the evening was (were?) the toasts. Besides praying for a good chicken dance, I always cross my fingers that the toasts will be worthy of the occasion. The family members who stood up for the couple did not disappoint. Their words were humorous and heartfelt.
On a side note, not only is Kate lovely and charming, she helps create new pies for Domino's Pizza. This pretty much makes her a goddess. If he wasn't such a great guy, I'd say Mark doesn't deserve her. I just hope marriage doesn't negatively affect her work. Oddly and unfortunately, there was no pizza at the wedding.
Thank you to Kate + Mark and all their friends and families for making me feel so welcome.

And now, everyone has a blog...
...or phlog, such as it is. What direction I'll take this is beyond my under-caffeinated abilities right now. Just Sharp Enough will serve mostly as a place to keep clients up-to-date on my work but, occasionally, something personal, a musical opinion, perhaps, might slip past the censors.
I thought I should go for the gut with my 1st post so I know you can never go wrong with a fuzzy lil' kitty. Stay tuned.
